Barbara Blackett

Colour and texture are my inspiration and when I am drawn to a certain colour or rich texture or the fall of light on a building I want to capture that sensation in paint and fix it onto paper.

Often I'm not sure how to proceed but working it out is the exciting part of the process of painting. I agree with Lucien Freud, who said “Half the point of painting is that you don't know what is going to happen – if you did, you wouldn't bother to do it.”
