Julie Wetenhall
I sketch and paint plein-air most days taking inspiration from wherever I find myself. I love to paint portraits and during the pandemic I painted my village – 89 portraits and 21 dogs.
More formally I sketch, paint and work with clay, focusing on the human form, portraits, landscapes, seascapes and animals, forever learning and welcoming every challenge. I love colour, shape and form, painting with oils and acrylics, mixed media and collage for texture. I also use charcoal, pastels and pencils.
More recently I have been painting with colour slips (coloured clay) and drawing (sgraffito) on hand built ceramic forms and sculpture. I exhibit locally, nationally and internationally; Bucks Open Studios, Bucks Art Society, Wooburn Arts Exhibition, West Wycombe Art Group, Marlow Art Society, Dorset Art Weeks, Mall Galleries (London); also, my work is held in collections as far afield as Australia, South Africa, North America, Canada and Europe.
